About the Game
85 is an rogue-like game where you play as a slime in an experimental lab. You escaped the lab and fight off all the scientists that try and stop you while gaining ingredients and upgrades to increase your power as you move towards your escape. You fight through waves of enemies, each dropping items and experience that can be used to improve your stats and fight your way to freedom.
Genre: Rogue-like
Theme: Sci-fi
Software: Unity, Excel, C#
Platform: PC
Target Audience: All Ages
Main Role: System Designer
85 was made for the purpose of system design in a game scenario. This game was made purely to practice balancing and mathematical formulas for a steady progression in the game. There are multiple different playable slimes with differing stats and attacking styles. This game is inspired by games like Vampire Survivors by Luca Galante and Binding of Isaac by Edmund McMillen.
Main Mechanics: Shooting slimeballs to defeat enemies
Secondary Mechanics: Improving stats and unlocking items by enemy drops.

85 is a pair work project while in Digipen Institute of Technology about system design. In this project, we used excel and exported the different values such as health, atk, etc as a json to be used in unity.
My main role in this project is a System Designer of the project. i was in charge of balancing and formatting the values for Json extraction. Along with that, I was in charge of the UI design & character artist
Other Contributions:
- Game design, Game programming in unity
- Creation of the excel sheet for Json & Json extraction in unity C#
- Balancing of the stats and numbers in excel.
- UI Design
- Character Pixel Art

Production Journey
System Design
As a system designer, we need to know how to seperate each system element. Using Primary Keys and Foreign Keys effectively while formatting each element correctly in a systematic order. Using symbols to seperate the information we need and extracting them effectively. Along with that, balancing through mathematical calculations. Appointing a certain percentage to each stat to make sure everything is balanced.

Calculations made for balancing of enemy spawns per wave.
Character Art & UI Design
As a UI designer, I needed to make and format information in an appealing way. With all the laboratory and Sci-fi themes, I decided to make it into a more futuristic screenlike design. We needed to make the results screen satisfying as well. I added interesting information that might make the player feel good about their results.
For the character art, it was pretty easy. 16x16 pixel art. The slime has 4 dimensions that the slime will be facing.
